Track 01: Diabetes and Endocrinology

Diabetes is a disease that occurs when your blood glucose is too high. Blood glucose is your main source of energy that comes from the food you eat. Insulin, a hormone made by the pancreas, helps glucose from food to get into your cells to be used for energy. Sometimes your body doesn’t make insulin well. Glucose then stays in your blood and doesn’t reach your cells. Endocrinology is the study of medicine that relates to our endocrine system, which is the system that controls hormones. Endocrinologists are specially trained physicians who diagnose diseases related to the glands. Because these doctors specialize in these conditions, which can be complex and have hard-to-spot symptoms, an endocrinologist is your best believer when dealing with hormonal issues. The endocrinologist's goal is to restore hormonal balance in our body.

Track 02: Diabetes Mellitus Type 1

Type 1 diabetes (diabetes mellitus) occurs when some or all of the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas are destroyed. This leaves the patient with little or no insulin. Without insulin, sugar gathers in the rather than entering the cells. As a result, the body cannot use this glucose for energy. In accumulation, the high levels of glucose that remains in the blood cause excessive urination and dehydration, and damage tissues of the body. Track 03: Diabetes mellitus Type 2

Insulin traveling in the blood hints the cells to take up glucose. Insulin is the hormone produced by the pancreas. The pancreas is an organ in the abdomen. When it levels the glucose in the blood it rise (for example, after a meal), the pancreas produces more insulin. Type 2 diabetes occurs when your body's cells resist the normal effect of insulin, which is to determine the glucose in the blood into the inside of the cells. This condition is called insulin resistance.

Track 04: Cardiovascular risk in Type 2 Diabetes

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death among the non-communicable diseases (NCDs). By reducing the prevalence of behavioral (CVD) risk factor like diabetes. According to the National NCD Risk Factors Survey in 2007, the prevalence of diabetes mellitus (DM) was 14.3%, hypertension (HTN) was 38.2%, and high cholesterol level was 40.6%. Mortality from cardiovascular disease is increased by a factor of two to three in persons with diabetes as compared with the general population.

Track 07: Gestational Diabetes                                        

Hyperglycaemia, which is first detected during pregnancy, is also known as gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). Although it can occur anytime during pregnancy, GDM generally affects pregnant women during the 2nd and 3rd trimesters. According to the American Diabetes Association (ADA), GDM complicates 7% in all pregnancies.

Treatment for gestational diabetes aims to keep blood glucose levels equivalent to those of pregnant women who don't have gestational diabetes. The treatment always includes special meal plans and scheduled physical activity, and it may also include daily blood glucose testing and insulin injections.

Track 08: Diabetes Ophthalmology

Diabetes Ophthalmology is a diabetic eye disease. Diabetic eye disease is a group of eye problems that can affect people with diabetes. These conditions include diabetic retinopathy, diabetic macular enema, cataracts, and glaucoma. Over time, diabetes can cause damage to your eyes that can lead to very poor vision or even blindness. But you can take steps to prevent diabetic eye disease, or keep it from getting worse, by taking care of your diabetes.

The best ways to manage your diabetes and keep your eyes healthy are to:

Reproductive endocrinology is a medical specialty for infertility, menopause, and other issues with reproductive hormones. Reproductive endocrinologists are obstetrics (OB) and gynaecology (GYN) doctors with special training to help both men and women with problems related to reproductive hormones. Sometimes, this specialty is called reproductive endocrinology and infertility because much of their work focuses on helping women to become pregnant and carry a baby to term.

Track 10: Endocrine Glands and Hormones

The endocrine system is made up of the endocrine glands that discharge hormones. Although there are eight major endocrine glands are Pituitary, Thyroid, Adrenal, Testis, Pineal, Thymus, Pancreas, Ovary) scattered throughout the body, they are still considered to be one system because they have similar functions, similar mechanisms of influence, and many important interrelationships.

Some glands also have non-endocrine regions that have functions other than hormone discharge. As like, the pancreas has a major exocrine portion that secretes digestive enzymes and an endocrine portion that secretes hormones. The ovaries and testes secrete hormones and also produce the ova and sperm. Some organs, like stomach, intestines, and heart, produce hormones, but their primary function is not hormone secretion.

Track 11: Diabetes and Periodontitis

Diabetes is a condition of the body that uses digested food for growth and energy. There are mainly 3 types of diabetes are there: type 1, type 2, and gestational diabetes. Periodontities diseases are infections of the gums and bone that hold the teeth in place. Gum disease has a problem that can happen if you have diabetes and that cannot be controlled well. Track 12: Diabetes Advanced Technologies

NIDDK-funded researchers are developing a new tool, called an islet chip, to study islets—groups of cells in the pancreas. Islets contain several types of cells, including beta cells that make insulin. In people with type 1 diabetes, the body’s immune system attacks and destroys the beta cells. Researchers funded by the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB) have developed a non-invasive device that can measure blood glucose levels without the standard finger prick. Researchers have also developed a flexible, wearable patch that can measure blood pressure and detect cardiovascular problems. This device could eventually help people living with diabetes, who are more likely to have high blood pressure and cardiovascular problems than people without diabetes.

Track 13: Diabetes Research in Clinical Practice

The most recent of diabetes in clinical practice is on their main causes of blindness, kidney failure, heart attack, and stroke. The number of people affected by all types of diabetic disorders is now over four times complex than just 40 years ago. This has led the World Health Organization (WHO) to consider diabetes an epidemic, predicting it will soon be the seventh biggest cause of death worldwide. Track 15: Thyroid Disorders in Children, Teens and Adolescents

Thyroid disorders are common endocrine problem encountered in the paediatric and adolescent age group. Amongst the functional thyroid disorders hypothyroidism is far more common than hyperthyroidism.  Functional thyroid disorders lend themselves to effective treatment and monitoring strategies. Track 17: Treatment and Diagnosis of Endocrine Diseases

There are a good range of treatment options for endocrine disorders. This is often because diseases of the system vary widely in both type and severity. The system is formed from different hormone-producing glands, and disorders arise when one or more of them either produces an excessive amount of or insufficient of a particular hormone. In some cases, the resulting hormone imbalance could also be mild enough to travel unnoticed or barely noticed and not require treatment. In other cases, like with hyperthyroidism, patients may exhibit unpleasant symptoms, including anxiety, rapid heartbeat, and fatigue. Medications may be used to alleviate these symptoms and prevent potentially serious complications over the long-term. Diagnosis of Endocrine Diseases involves Hormone testing, Genetic testing, Imaging studies and Urine tests etc.

Treatments for endocrine disorders generally fall into three categories:

• Medication:  If there is too much or too little of a certain hormone in the body, synthetic hormones may be administered to correct the imbalance and reduce symptoms. Chemotherapy may also be used to treat patients with cancer of an endocrine gland.
• Surgery:  In some cases, such as with cancerous and non-cancerous tumors on an endocrine gland, surgery and/or radiation therapy may be necessary. After the underlying problem has been resolved, hormone production should return to normal.
• Hormone Therapy: You take supplements to restore levels of certain hormones. This treatment may be right for you if you have abnormally low hormone levels. Track 18: Ketogenic Diet for Diabetes                                           

The keto diet (short for ketogenic diet) generally requires consuming 75% of your daily calories from fat, 20% from protein and just 5% from carbohydrates. Unlike some low-carb diets that recommend nixing sugar and processed grains (like white bread and pasta), going on the ketogenic diet also means eliminating nearly all carbs from your diet, including fruits, whole grains and some vegetables. Some people suffering from diabetes disease, that affects the body’s ability to produce or use the hormone insulin to reduce glucose (sugar) in the blood, may be concerned about being at higher risk of getting COVID-19.
